Default Android user wanting to try a blackberry or palm....help

I currently have a HTC Evo on Sprint. I am looking to buy a phone and downgrade due to me needing some green. I am looking at either the BB 8330, 8530, or the bold on sprint. I am also wondering about the palm pre. I have only used a blackberry so I'm leaning towards a blackberry. But i am really wanting to know about the Pre. Pro's, con's, battery life. I have never used a Pre on sprint but I am really missing a physical keyboard. I know this is the king of all blackberry forums so I am really needing your help and real user experience. Thanks again and I will be checking this lol.

I have a Palm Pre and a 9650. I am currently using the 9650. The Pre is actually a really slick phone, I just prefer the keyboard on the Bold. For entertainment purposes I think the Pre probably out-preforms the Bold in many ways. Games and video just seem smoother on the Pre. For everyday stuff like messaging, news feeds, calendar I would say I prefer the Bold. It really comes down to user preference I guess but I think they are both great devices. I also have an old 8330 which I used to love and would still use if anything happened to my bold. I have been trying to trade my pre for another BB or similar because it just sits on my desk and doesnt get used so I guess overall BB is my preference.

If you are looking to downgrade, don't go as low as the 8330 series...go with the Curve 3G or a Bold. The Pre is an awesome phone, but you'll be disapppointed with the battery life.

Go with the bold its solid compared to the curve and sprint (well the store closest to me) don't even sell palm devices anymore...which is a shame!

what are you looking to use it for? if you surf the web a lot, i'd go with the pre.

if you email or sms a lot, i'd go with the bb. the pre just sucked for both these functions and that is why it's hiding somewhere in a drawer. i got it when sprint first released it.

Well, if you ask on the BB forum, everyone will say BB of course and same thing on precentral.net but they would say the Pre. I have the 9630 and for messaging and emails its great, but the browser needs some improvement. I had the Pre for awhile and have thought about picking one up on eBay for cheap because of the sweet OS.

I hear you on the physical keyboard though. I tried the EVO for a few weeks and the battery was worse than my 9630, turns out to last longer on a battery just buy a new battery. The pre has a smaller battery and a larger screen, that is why it drains faster than a 9650 would.

Don't really see much benefit of going with the pre over an android phone.... Having owned an android and a pre and a BB...

If you want communications, BB is better and the battery life is better, even on the Torch which has a larger screen than the Pre does.

From an Evo to ... Anything. I do not recommend downgrading.

Won't you still have to pay $30/month In data charges with a BlackBerry or Pre? How is this saving you $$$?

I would imagine they want to sell the Evo for $$$ from upgrade pricing and buy a phone for less

It that case, get a 9630 or 9650. Those are going pretty cheap and you'll make the most profit.

The monthly fee will remain the same unless you go to a feature (non smart_ phone.

This person is on Sprint. We don't have a $30 data fee.

They probably wanted to not pay the $10 a month that you have to with the EVO. Which is now for all phones but at the time the OP asked this it was only on the EVO and the Epic.

I had some VZW BB's , including the Tour and 8330. When I switched to Sprint, I tried out the Pixi...wow...seriously...ew. Dumped it as fast as I could for my Evo, but here I am back to wanting a berry again. Have you looked at the 3G Curve? It's not bad for a cheaper model and looks cute in purple! Haha

Yeah I would avoid webos like the plague until they completely re-prove themselves...

The current hardware is garbage. The upcoming new hardware looks better, but it looks like small steps, not big ones... They should distance themselves heavily from the previous hardware, but they aren't, which is stupid.
