A best answer designator would be good. One that works on Tapatalk and the mobile apps.
uh we have an entire database of exactly that...

    CrackBerry Questions & Answers

we have whole team mobile nations wide for this in fact that Rich is the Team Leader for
As Matt pointed out I am the Q&A Team Leader, and I have a team of approx 35 people who work our forums about 7 to 10 of which are CB specialists (or multi site) And I'm always recruiting! We try to always provide a quick and correct answer to the questions in the Ask a Question sub forum, and elsewhere. We are trained to show people how to join the site (we have a thread we post which has a tutorial) AND in how to extract more info from people. Additionally on most threads we CAN mark a "best answer" which causes that answer to rise to the top of the thread and become the 2nd post. (with a star! lol)

I've always found the search capability of CB forums lacking. Most of the time I will google something to find the answer on the site. Maybe that has changed with the site upgrade, but the search feature of the forums has always been a bit of a mess.

The ability to search for new members will certainly make it easier from them to get answers not not to mention members looking for an old thread to answer those questions.
This. Even if 95% of people don't search the 5% shouldn't be penalized with the current mockery of a search function.

Agree it could be better, however sometimes the existing solution is the best solution. A Google search with "CrackBerry" included in parentheses as I typed will search for whatever at CrackBerry!

I think that the Ask a question section should not be open to posts by guests. When they don't register, often they never come back to see the answers.

The whole point of the Ask A Question sub forum is that non members can post there. What we try to do is get them to join the forum and become regular members. As Q&A Team members (as you just became) we can use a tool that lets us post a message explaining how they can join. Example....

    First off, welcome to CrackBerry!

If you need additional help or have more questions or information to share, please join the site so you can reply in this thread. See this link for instructions on how to join.

That's the issue at hand, although there's little difference between a one post account and CB Question.

Maybe adding an email address field to the question post to give them nagging followups (like a subscription) and a "if you need to reply, please join the site..." at the bottom?

Can you also add back the "online" dot, whatever it was? I like to see that when having discussions here.

I have a question. Why is it that when looking at the main forum, next to Featured Forums, it shows a 2 year old post? Why doesn't it change to a current post?

What's the difference between 'Hot this week', 'Popular this week' and 'Trending'? It's rather complicated.

I love the new stars that denote a solution, or best answer - really helpful to quickly get the info you're looking for without having to read pages and pages. It would be really great if you could add that same star to the title of the post, in the sub-forum. IE. when i click to enter the KEYone support section, it would be nice to see which questions already have answers, without having to go into the specific thread. Another solution could just be prefixing the title with '[SOLVED]', or something like that.

now CB folded over into BBM (somewhat), might be some insight on unique technology, preview of form fit function, color scheme, upgrade path, etc. (software wise, watch for standards of AR, VR and AI, as updated activity, so Dev will be aware of what might be the next gen software. Hardware wise, the new processor, trade offs, camera - dual camera application, etc.etc.)...

Doesn't this info lie with BlackBerry Mobile though? I mean the info gets leaked, only when and if, BBM wants it to be shared? I thought I read somewhere on CB this kind of info was gag ordered under NDA by OEM in general.

no need for any leak info. just one stop shopping for technology update: check appleinsider.com, they are doing it very well. standard watch is open to public - you need component vendor, network provider, everybody on the food chain on board, before it become standard. as for upgrade roadmap, BB used to let everybody know up coming release at least once a year (when there are many), similar for Mac event. you provide linkage for keep your customer fold into your camp... (especially, when you have limited ram, you want ensure next gen software OS will still works on your handset... a bit diffiicult when you use droid... assume you have peek at google's brain under NDA... majority of us don't want to change handset every 6 month, except IT guys). take a look at appleinsider, you will know what I mean.

That's (probably) a good call... but then,I tend to shy away from registering at sites that want you to sign up BECAUSE of
    getting spammed!
Maybe it's best to compromise. Offer the "short" version.... a helpful, complete answer, but don't get into to much detail.
It's like "Download this (whatever) for free. You get the impression that the product is free. So, you try it out and it tells you it can fix this or repair that... and then, BUT, you have to register for it to work.
So, if you give a short version, the person with the question is more likely to register. (and then there's the bonus we get for signing a new member!)

Lastly, signatures across platforms should be brought back but should be drop downs boxes like Device, OS, Carrier. That way the info is there to help but no dissertations and famous quotes, lol
