Default Voda disabled Amazon MP3 store

So I've just got my new 9900 through Vodafone UK and as I was exploring the apps I saw the icon for the Amazon MP3 store (comes preinstalled as part of the media folder). I clicked on the icon and got a message that the app had been disabled by my carrier (Voda). The icon then disappeared. When I look in the Application Management list under options/device I can see that the app is installed. It seems to me that Voda have disabled it to force people to use their own music store (comes as a virtual preload). Is there a way to get round this? I refuse to use Voda's store as a matter of principle and would like to be able to access the Amazon store on my device!

Did you ever get a solution to this as I have the same issue. I'm new to bb so don't know if its possible to change to generic bb software instead of bb vodafone software?

Hey guys, I was just about to post up about this very thing.

I too have a VF UK BB9900 and my Amazon MP3 store was locked out too, but I think I've just found a solution, quite by accident

If you do a 'Security Wipe' on the phone, the Amazon MP3 store will now work, don't forget to back up your info if you need to, or better still, do the wipe before you first use the 9900 (new buyers obviously).

Works all ok here now for me

By doing a security wipe you're deleting the Voda service books, which is enabling the app to work.

As soon as Voda push their service books back to your phone, the app will mysteriously disappear

I don't have the Amazon app icon, it disappeared. But the is an icon in my media folder called Music store. I was able to buy an album as well.

Is this a permanent solution or does the app disappear again after the service books are pushed? I am having the same issue on Rogers in Canada (9860 on Rogers / Amazon MP3).

Thanks,
D

Well folks, here's some more bad news. I finally got my new AT&T 9810 up and running and the same thing happened as with Mr. Vodaphone above. The Amazon MP3 icon has vanished. It still shows as installed on "My Blackberry App Store" but it's nowhere to be found even with a universal search. I've deleted and reloaded it twice with full battery pulls and all and it's still not showing.
I hate the thought of having to do a security wipe and then spend another day reloading everything, but I guess that's where this is heading. Crap!

This only happens if AT&T specifically block it. Go into your Service Books (Options->Device->Advanced Settings->Service Book). If there is a "MediaConfig" item you need to delete it. Then you need to reboot device, then you need to do the same thing to delete the MediaConfig again.

Occasionally the service books get pushed out again and you need to do the same process. This isn't really a bug so much as the app is specifically blocked.

I'd speak with VF UK or check on the eforum. I've got the store and all works fine. Maybe just a glitch or would it matter that my phone is 'sim free'?

Check your certificates.

Vodafone UK have the Amazon MP3 certificate as untrusted, and other carriers may do as well...
