prepaid sim issues

Hi,

I am using a verizon issue 9650 in mumbai, india. I also have a vodafone prepaid connection with an active BIS plan on it. The sim card is working fine on my other blackberry handset, the curve 8520. When I inserted the sim card into the 9650 the device failed to register with the network and EDGE didn't show. Its working fine otherwise. However on inserting a prepaid sim card of another carrier (airtel), the 9650 immediately registered and is allowing me to use the data services too. The best part is that the device is accepting contract (bill) sim cards of vodafone and EDGE is showing too.

I am in a fix as vodafone has the better services as far as BIS is concerned and I would ideally want to use vodafone services for BIS on this handset.

Any help in this matter shall be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
