Question No BIS over Wifi with vodafone.. help ?!

hey guys.. need some help.. do you all use BIS over Wifi ? If yes.. how does it work? is it depending on your carrier, 'couse he decides if you can use it or not ? I hava a 1mb data plan with vodafone in germany.. called there, but they always tell me it's impossible to use BIS over wifi.. but I know it works! if they ...won't let me use it, is there any possibility to get it run without my carrier, maybe to download a servicebook or something like that ?
would be great if somebody can help me

Are you sure its a 1MB (megabyte) plan you have? That won't last very long in this day and age????

You need a BIS data plan in order to use BIS - once activated your blackberry will default to using wifi data when it is available and setup.

Last maybe 13 hours, possibly shorter.

Vodafone doesn't give by default access to bis over wifi. but if you call them they will activate for free this option for you. it's called "provisioning the number corectly in all Vodafone applications"

BIS over wifi is automatic by default if you have a BlackBerry data plan, with any carrier... no need for any calls to 'activate' it.

As I have said elsewhere I discovered this week that it works with OS 7.1 but I never got it to work with earlier OS versions, including OS 7.0.

Really? I've always had it, right back to my first BB on OS4.3

That is really odd. I have worked on a BlackBerry helpdesk since 2004 and never made it work until 7.1. I even got my colleague to test it on 7.0 and OS 5 this morning and it did not work. We have always been on Vodafone. I would love to know the reason why.

My vodafone 9900 and even the 9810 which I swapped the 9900 works with BIS over wifi no problems at all. Simply turn on the wifi and its connects everytime automatically.
