using bbm overseas
I've got an 8330 on verizon and i'll be going to jamica in august. While I know that i'll be charged for calls made while there, is there a charge for using BBM or getting email while in country?

Jamacia is CDMA. You will need the CDMA global data plan for 64.99 per month. Of course this is proated for the time it applied to your account. It also replaces the domestic data plan for that tme.

How long will you be there? Right now you pay a buck a day for data. With the other plan it is about $2.17 a day.

Exactly....for a week, it might make sense.
Also, if where you are going has wifi, you can do nothing, shutoff the mobile network and make sure you set data services to "off while roaming". Then you can get your data via wifi without any other additional charges. - 07-02-2010, 09:57 AM #8

Your better off just doing it for emergency. It's prorated so when you get back, just call to take it off.
But yes BBM is free to use as long as you have international data. As well as browser and emails.
I was in germany and used 2GB of data with no charge.BB Storm 9530>BB Storm 9550>DroidX
