    Angry No 3G in Phoenix area??

    I just moved to VZW and i have the strom, for some reason my phone says
    1XEV for the data coverage. My book says that's a step lower than 3G, can somone please explain?

    I want to be able to surf the web while I'm on a call

    IXEV is the indicator that VZW uses for 3G. Now with CDMA that VZW has and I can only speak for VZW, this will not happen. one or the other. Sorry

    in other words i won't be able to use data and talk on the phone at the same time...right?

    The entire Phoenix area is awash in 3G. Your perception of what makes 3G is off. Lastraid is correct. EVDO is data only, hence the DO in EVDO. It is EV-DV that will handle data & voice, but that appears to be a stillborn technology in North America, since VZW has committed itself to the WiMAX-like LTE standard for future upgrades.
