Default New Every Two (NE2) no more?

I used my NE2 to get the Torch 9850 and the rep made a comment about how this is the last time I will get to use this. They are doing away with it! Anyone else hear this?

Yeah, they did away with NE2. It is pretty old news. No more annual upgrades within a 2 year contract anymore either. Boo. First they lowered the credit, then tot rid of it altogether.

There are a bunch of news articles on Google, but here's one:

Another big VZW change is no more unlimited data option for new customers. Thankfully, existing customers currently on an unlimited smartphone data plan are grandfathered in. For now...

Wow I missed that one. Anything new about the "new upgrade plan"?

I knew about the unlimited data and luckily I am grandfathered in.

Supposedly there is a new loyalty upgrade plan in the works. I'm not sure of any info though as I've been away for a while.

I'll do some googling.

I liked doing the annual upgrade within a 2 year, and just paying the upgrade fee of $18.

Not much I could find. Looks like you may or may not get discounts on a phone after 20 months, based specially on your number. It all seems vague as to whether existing customers will get further discounts after they use theory last ne2.

As of right now, the only plan is to allow everyone two year promotional pricing at the 20 month point of your contract. There are/will be a number of promotions from time to time to get basic phone users in to smartphones.

Exactly!

Right now Verizon is running a promo....trade in a basic phone and sign up for a new line of smartphone service and get at least a $100 gift card.

That's pretty cool. Wish It was a year free data though! Then I'd get my hubby on a smartphone for sure!
