Alltel phone activation on Verizon?

I know CDMA carriers in the US don't activate other carrier's phones, but considering that Verizon bought Alltel, I think it would make sense for them to activate an Alltel phone on their network. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you are still on an old Alltel plan, then you probably will be able to have them activate the device.

If you are on a Verizon plan, you definitely will not be able to.

As of Jan 15th you can no longer reactivate or activate any alltel phones on verizon. only existing active alltel phones can remain on the network.
