Default Used 8330m Curve

Hi. My family has 3 lines w/USCC. Two were past their contacts for a couple yrs. We added the third line this spring, my curve. This week I used one of the upgrades to get a Tour.

Can I use the Curve as a replacement for one of the other two phones, without data service from USCC? The sales persons says NO.
