Default Are US Cellular's roaming agreements good enough for the frequent business traveler?

I live in Wisconsin and US Cellular has excellent service here; however, I'm considering taking a job that will require frequent traveling. Are the roaming agreements good to the point where US Cellular will still suffice in terms of national coverage? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I believe so. They have roaming agreements with both Sprint and Verizon.

And most importantly the agreement with Verizon is a 3G roaming agreement. So anywhere that Verizon has 3G you'll also have 3G.

Back in march we drive from the chicago area down to Ft Myers, Fl, and we had coverage the whole way, most of it 3g (except in the mountains).

I have a friend who went to Moab Utah a few years ago and only USCC had service on top of a mountain, friends with Verizon and ATT didn't. NO idea who they piggy backed on but it worked. I have had no problems traveling with USCC. The only problem you would have is if you spend extensive time away, and have a phone problem, there would not be a store. My solution has been bring my old phone with me as you can always call them to reactivate another in case of an emergency since CDMA doesn't have Sim Cards.

I have a Nat'l plan and traveled all over the US with the exception of west of NM. The only places I have ever had issues was spotty coverage traveling from Tulsa to KC and on I-40 between Webbers Falls OK to the Ark stateline. Had very low signal strength in Albert Lee MN and I couldn't tether. Sometimes when I have been away, I guess in certain areas my phone was pinging the towers non stop and drained my battery. I have attempted to update *228 and it messed up my phone and tech support had to set up my emails again. Was told never to do that again. I always carry a spare phone when traveling.

Travelled to flordia, texas and many points in between. Good signal, drains the blackberries on roan quicker. A spare battery is never a bad idea when travelling. I carry a cheap gsm tracfone with my tour for those rare situations where us cell does not work and att does.

CDMA signals travel through buildings, mountains, etc, way better than GSM signals. So when USCC tower shares with Sprint and Verizon, then it is a major plus for the end users. I've been camping in places that they say no one will have signal, and I surfed the web all day. I've yet to find a place where I don't have service.

@Blazr - I'm shocked by that. I'm on I40, 412, and I44 routinely, and I don't have issues. I update my prl (*228) weekly. But I only do it in my home area.

Yep. It is nice. The only thing I don't like is that you can't use WiFI hotspot when roaming. Usually get an error that says the roaming tower can't handle the roaming data request. But that's what my bridge and Playbook are for.
