Default So what do the 4G 'Berries mean for USCC?

So with all the announcements this morning, I found it interesting that not only is the 99xx going to be 4G on multiple carriers, but that AT&T is saying the keyboardless Torch 9850 will be 4G as well.

Now I know that USCC has announced they will roll out 4G starting around the holidays. But does this mean we at USCC won't see any new Berries until then? Will they release them as 3G, but 4G capable? And finally, if they are released as 4G, does that mean they won't be available in the non4G markets?

I'm thinking back to Verizon's launch of the Thunderbolt...it's a 4G, but not all their markets had it. I didn't really pay attention to availability, so maybe someone else can chime in with some thoughts.

I do realize that other carriers are saying "later this year" for the 99xx...it's a killer when they've made us wait so long already.

What are all you other USCC customers thinking?

AT&T's 4G branding means nothing as it's actually just a rebranding of HSPA+. They're all 3G BBs but certain carriers will just market them as 4G.

The point wasn't to hash out (as has been done ad nauseum) whether or not ATT is really 4G or not. The point is, for those of us on US Cellular, not verizon, what does the 4G on the new OS7 devices mean? Bell has them labeled as 4G, TMOB as well.

It just worries me that now we at USCC won't see anything new until the holidays.

US Cellular will roll out 4G LTE later this year. This is different than the GSM carrier's 4G. If I understand right, the new CDMA BlackBerries (Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular) Will NOT be 4G.

Like stated before the 4G on AT&T etc. is nothing more than marketing jargen.

Personally I'm not to concerened. I would be happy if I could get a reliable 3G signal.

Thanks! This is the kind of feedback I was looking for. I had not heard that about the CDMA Berries. That makes me breathe a little easier as far as a release date. I'm not obsessed with having 4G, either. To me it comes at a cost of battery life and more $$.

CDMA is only going to 3G. Verizon added LTE to get 4G, and there aren't any LTE BlackBerry devices announced yet. Sprint has WiMax, and there aren't any WiMAX BBs. GSM is just upgrading HSPA+ and calling it 4G.

AT&T is not really 4G they call that but it want be 4G until they roll out LTE & the same for the other carriers as far as I know. There could be another way to get 4G but i don't know about it.
