Default Roaming troubles and rant

I've had my 8330 for 22 months and no problems with data making trips (driving) from Kansas to Virginia. I was in Kansas City for two days and could not access any data. After 3 hours 45 minutes on uscc customer service, still none. I was told there was a problem with roaming and uscc agreement with verizon. Uscc does not guarantee data, even if you pay for it. They don't know when this is going to be resolved. I'm waiting for the desire, but was told it's data may not work either. I asked if the problem was my phone but they said it was working "properly.". I guess properly means no internet and no access to email.

Anyone else with this problem. I've never wanted to switch carriers till today. Uscc made a good argument for me to switch.

Anyone with a similar problem?

If you were on Verizon towers maybe they were working on those towers. Or data was down for every Verizon customer in that area. I don't think that's uscc fault that Verizon was having problems with there towers. Plus the nationwide roaming just got turned on. Theirs bound to be a few kinks that need ironed out.

im upset that ford wont do warranty work on my gm either.

how is it usccs fault if things arent working from verizions towers.

if this is the first time you have had a problem it is only a minor issue and will be resolved. just take a deep breath and relax.

I haven't been roaming since the new 1XEV data roaming went into effect, but I hadn't had problems previously. Have you updated the PRL on your BB?

Things are working fine for verizon towers, it's that uscc's agreement with them is not operable. I was told anywhere I would roam using a verizon tower I would have no data. It was just 3 hours of frustration and 2 days without data. It also made me a little nervous when they told me data wouldn't whorl with the desire either.

Maybe I am blowing it out of proportion. I Sony mind paying for something, just paying for something that doesn't work and being told "we can't fix it and don't know when it will be fixed."

That's not true at all, quite to the contrary actually. US Cellular just signed and implemented an EVDO roaming agreement with Verizon whereby US Cellular customers can use Verizon's EVDO/3G network while roaming in those markets.

I have an 8330 also and when in KC I have to do a reboot to get my emails or get data. Note: This was prior to a *228. It may be different now.

I have also experienced the "no data zone" the past 2 weekends. I spent one weekend in Nashville, TN and one in Lexington, KY - both trips were dataless. My BB was showing 1xev a majority of the time with the occasional 1XEV. This weekend, however, while in Lexington, I would get 1X sporadically and my emails would come flying in. I have updated my PRL (15100) numerous times and even did it just before leaving out of town last weekend as told to do so by a store manager. Still, no data when roaming. I am going to go back to the store and address this issue with them again - I would rather go back to having the 1X data all the time than have no data at all. I mean, I bought the Bold so that I would have GPS as well and I can't even use it once I've lost data. Very frustrating.

I always have a no data zone when I'm traveling in & around Raleigh, NC.

It seems if we are driving through Raleigh headed towards the western part of the state the no data zone lasts much longer than if we are going to Raleigh & staying in the city for the day.
