Default Roaming and Non Delivery of Calls

Has anyone else had issues roaming with their Curve with USCC?

I have been having a horrible time while roaming as of recently. I have the latest official handheld software and the latest PRLs. Basically, just about everywhere I have traveled the last 6-8 months has essentially rendered my Curve worthless for receiving calls. My wife has told me sometimes it takes up to 5 times before it will ring out to my phone. Essentially, I will get a voicemail indicator and SMS without the phone ever ringing. It doesn't happen every call, but it has affected many calls.

I have spoke with Roaming Support, Acct Rep, Tech Support, and DTS with varying results from telling me that I cannot expect perfect service, to replacing the device, to pulling the battery for 20 minutes every day.

Don't get me wrong, I have been a customer for 10 years, and I am considering jumping to another carrier if I cannot get decent roaming.

Any suggestions?

I had some issues with getting data on my Blackberry 8330 in December, both in Minneapolis and in California. I could make calls and texts just fine, but data was unpredictable.

The truth is that as a roaming customer on another company's towers you are not top priority. If you are traveling THAT much you may want to look into a national carrier.
