Default Pearl Flip and GPS

Is there supposed to be a GPS program on the Pearl Flip from USCC? The Pearl has it, but it doesn't appear to be on the Flip.

I mean the actual GPS program that uses satellites.

BlackBerry Maps *does* use satellites.

You're going to have to be more specific...TeleNav?

I just found "compare" phones on Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at BlackBerry.com and it appears the Flip does NOT have the GPS on it. My Pearl and my Tour both have the GPS program which I think is like Telenav, but no voice. It searches for satellites and then tells where you are in real time, including speed. On the Flip, maps work if you TELL it where you are and then it pulls up a map. I don't see any evidence of satellite involvement.

It has GPS, you can download TeleNav in App World.

The difference is Telenav is a premium service that one has to buy, although it has voice. The Pearl, Tour and most other BBs have a GPS program that does not use voice, but still tracks live via satellites. In maps, there is an option to "turn on" GPS. For some reason, they chose not to put that program/option on the Flip.

Yes, on my Tour, if I go to Blackberry maps, I have the option in menu to "Start GPS." This is NOT present on the Pearl Flip.

First, I would make sure that your GPS is on, go to Options, Advanced Options, GPS and change the option in GPS Services to "Location On"

Then within Maps you should hit the menu key and select "Start GPS Navigation."

Zoom, Find location, local search, get directions, get link, send location, copy location, add to favorites, layers, options (includes backlight stuff, fonts, etc.), About, Call voice Mail, Switch Application Close.

On the Tour, after Zoom, there is Start GPS Navigation.

If you are skeptical about it GPS NOT being on the Flip, check out blackberry.com and compare phones to see that GPS is not offered on the Flip.

Those sound like the options for Google Maps.

I removed BB Maps long ago but I don't recall it having "layers."

I have both, and both Google Maps and BB Maps have layers in the options. Just NO GPS.

My pearl flip has a "start GPS navigation" right below it on the blackberry maps. The new version of google maps doesn't have the GPS option anymore.

Also, my GPS nav doesn't work for ****.
