Default over the phone activation

so, here's the deal. i bought a Tour off ebay and am currently awaiting its arrival to replace the 8330 i've been using.

i'm on a family plan on which my mother is the only one authorized to make account changes, etc., which means she needs to be present to go into a USC store with me to activate the new BB. due to the geographical hardships of being away at lovely college, that won't be possibly for many many weeks (until i go home).

i've read that you can activate phones by calling customer service, so i've been thinking i'll just give it a shot trying to pass myself off as my mom. i'm not trying to add on crazy charges or steal her identity, just want to activate my new BB in place of my current one.

trouble is, i'm sure they'll have all kinds of hardcore security questions that i'll need to have quick answers for.

SO, has anyone completed this process recently who can tell me the questions i'll be asked?? if all i need to do is ask mommy the last 4 digits of her SSN, then it'll be smooth sailing.

any constructive info is appreciated

So long as your mother knows that you bought the Tour and is OK with you activating it, etc, the easiest way will be for her to call Customer Service first, add you as an authorized user and ask the CS rep to make a note in the account that you will be calling shortly to activate the Tour.

Then when you call to activate the Tour the CS rep will see the note and you shouldn't have a problem. Then your mom can call back at a later time and remove you as an authorized user from the account. It would be a good idea to have the last four digits of your mom's SSN handy, also make sure that she hasn't set up a password for the account. Account holders can add a four digit PIN to the account aside from the last four of the account holder's SSN.

Finally, don't say that you bought the Tour off eBay, that will send up a red flag for the CS rep that you may be attempting to activate a Sprint or Verizon Tour, in which case they'll make you go to a store so that someone can verify, in person, that it is indeed a USCC phone.

Also, make sue that you call from a landline or at least a different line, not from your Curve.
