Anyone with the Desire still getting the following message?

"The application My Contacts Backup (process com.asurion.android.mobilebackup) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

Nope. I rooted and removed that thing in the first week.

There's a thread over on HoFo where someone cleared the cache and set it so that it wouldn't automatically update and the error messages went away. I'd do a search over there and see what you find.

I downloaded it and deleted it. The thing always gave me error messages

I also think (mind you I said "think" because I'm not certain) that My Contacts Backup really messed up my contacts. Screwed up names, images, etc. Deleted,....
