Never used the tour, but I've had a chance to play around with the 8530 and its not a bad device.

I would think the tour would just be a better quality device. But you may want to try to go to this forum and ask the tour users.

There's a comparison of the devices here:

Bottom line unless you NEED WiFi or the trackpad you should go with the Tour.

I'd go for the 8530. I have the Tour and it's great but its not worth the price difference. Only exception is if you really want a great camera...Tour's is much better. The 8530 has Wi-Fi, trackpad and 5.0 OS for about $60 cheaper.

And more memory, faster processor, infinitely better screen, it comes with 4.7 on it but it's easily upgraded to 5.0, and is made of higher quality materials. I also think its keyboard is far superior to the 8530 but that's a matter of personal preference.

Yeah but the 5.0 isn't the official upgrade which causes problems on some tours.

It does have a higher resolution screen but both handsets have 256mb of onboard memory and a 528 mHz processor.

In our area the 8530 price just dropped since I got mine not quite 2 weeks ago. Existing customers can get the 8530 for roughly 20 bucks after rebate with a 2 year renewal. This phone has some great features and for that price it is a steal.

I'd go with the Tour. I might be a little biased. But yeah, with an OS 5.0 hybrid on it, it's a solid phone.

With that huge price drop for the Curve that's gotta tell you something...I would go with the Tour.

The price drop means nothing about quality. Carriers make the money back over the 2 year contract. It is built in. Figure out how much you pay over the 2 years. The actual service only costs the carrier a small %. The up front charge for the phone is icing.
