| | Hello USCC peeps
As current Tmobile longtimer, who will refuse to be part of the Death Star's takeover of our little pit of happiness, I am looking for a new provider for the first time in 7 years.
I wanted to stay GSM, but again, I no longer have a choice and must to go CDMA for the first time ever (I got my first cell in 1988). Sprint is the next to get bought, and Verizon is expensive as heck. US Cell is a player here in Wisconsin and I wanted to know if you had it to do over again, would you stay with USCC?

USCell is the only one I've ever had. I've never had a problem with them, coverage everywhere I go and a great plan. I will stick with them until someone else gobbles them up. The one knock for some is that they don't get the best phones or they get them way after the others do.

My first cell phone was with GTE back before they merged with one of the others. My wife was with CellularOne. We ended up combining our plans together when her work had a special rate through USCC. That was twelve years ago. We've been quite happy with our service, even if they are a little delayed on getting new devices (something I think they have been improving on). We rarely drop calls (except one spot where we know it will happen), have had good service with our local rep, and haven't gone over our plan minutes in a very long time (thanks to free incoming calls, free nights and weekends, and free mobile-to-mobile). Plus, USCC roams on Verizon's network (they have 3G roaming agreements in place now), so coverage has been pretty good even when out of our network.

USCC has the best coverage in eastern NC. Most folks like their service too. I got on the Belief Plan, and was able to get my 2 kids back from ATT, for less, and with smart phones. The only down side is the slow acquisition of new technology. We won't get 4G first, and new phones are slow to come. But I haven't found that a big handicap. I have a friend who went to Moab, Utah, and only USCC had reception on top of some hill they were biking up.
However, what do folks think will happen to USCC after ATT swallows TMobile? Will they be able to remain independent? I keep wondering if Sprint or Verizon will gobble them up.

Here in Wisconsin I've had VZW, Sprint, and USCC. USCC has the best network period. True you may not have the selection of other carriers, but lately USCC has been picking up better and better high end phones. I think you'll be pleased with your choice.

I keep wondering if Sprint or Verizon will gobble them up. | I can totally back pvdiamon regarding USCC in Eastern NC. I live in Williamston and work in Washington, and so does my brother-in-law. He currently has VZW and there are numerous spots where his Motorola "Hemi-droid" drops calls EVERY TIME. This is only a ~25 mile drive, and to drop a call more than once is aggervating to say the least, but multiple call drops in that distance is rediculous. He just battled VZW to have them let him break out of his contract without any early term fees because they just can't provide him the service that they are supposed to be providing him. He is finally switching to USC. I have taken my USC BlackBerrys (Between my Wife and I in the last 2 years, we have collectively use the Curve 8330, Pearl 8130, Tour 9630 and the Bold 9650) into some VERY remote fishing areas more than an hour and a half a way (ENC folks prob. know exactly where I am talking about) and have had been able to easily carry conversations from my house all the way to the docks and even out into the sounds without ever dropping a call or losing data connections.
I can definatly say that USCC has historically been more concerned with providing the reliable coverage in areas that others simply don't care about instead of spending millions of dollars just to bring out the "latest and greatest" phones before anyone else. Granted they may not be the first to start deploying the latest technology, but when they do, plain and simply said:
IT WORKS!!

I've been with USCC for about 12 years now. I've thought about moving, mainly because of device selection, but I haven't done it. I think that their customer service is just great and I haven't had any coverage issues that I wouldn't have had with another carrier. In fact, in many places here in NH my coverage is better than VZW, including right here in my house! So, I stay and would recommend them to others.

Another Wisconsin US Cellular customer here. The coverage and customer support is absolutely top notch. I live in a fairly rural area and get reception most others can't. I would also echo the drawback to USCC for me is the phone selection (both in number of options and timeliness to market). It has seemed that is especially pronounced with BlackBerry lately, as USCC has hopped on the Android train and paying much less attention to BB. They just finally released an OS6 for the 9650 and 9330, but if you're a CrackBerrian, you'll probably be running leaks much earlier anyway like I do. Like virtually every carrier, some of the agents aren't great on technical knowledge when it comes to the phones themselves, but are always very eager and willing to help with any problems.
I've been with USCC for more than 10 years and will likely stay for a long time, unless they begin to neglect BB to the point of it becoming unacceptable, then I would consider a switch.

I agree with pistolpetefan23. I'm in WI and have been w/USCC for almost 10 yrs. Traveled (by car) to no man's land in TX w/ several verizon and sprint users and I was the only one w/total coverage. They couldn't txt or make calls. As soon as we headed back north, their phones went crazy w/ all the incoming texts and voicemails that had been queuing up over the last 5 days. Can you imagine? All the while I had been txting, using bbm and voice while we were there. As mentioned again and again, the phone selection is less than desirable, 'm sticking w/uscc.

It's been said that the reason for the delay/selection in the phone line up is because they test the crap out of them before allowing them on the shelves. Many phones don't seem to live up to their high standards (BB style). When and if they release a phone it WILL work and be reliable. Occationally one will slip through the cracks and it is promptly pulled from the shelves.
My experience with customer service has always been exelent. I can only think of one time where I had to wait more than 5 minutes to talk to a person. That was on release day for Belief plans. Usually it's less than a minute.

I know I'm late to the party but I'll throw my .02 in as well and back up what everyone else has said. I've been championing US Cell among my friends here in the NW subs of Chicago who are starting to moan about ATT. We couldn't be happier with our USCC plan and coverage. We drove down to southwest Florida in March and then back and had coverage (albeit roaming) the whole time. Was great for checking weather radar, navigation, etc.
I tell everyone that gripes about their carrier that if a regional carrier like USCC is a possibility for them, to do their homework, check it out, and if it works out, send a message to the big 4 (soon to be big 3) that we want better value for the services we pay for.

Was having drinks with three co-workers today and all three said they've been having problems with service on their iPhones (2 have 4's and 1 has a 3GS) with ATT lately. One said he drops calls all the time. Keep in mind this is suburban Madison, WI, which should have as good of service as anywhere.
