Default Google Voice

Has anyone used Google Voice on USCC? I can't get it to pick up, calls always go to USCC voicemail. Solutions on google.com do not help. Perhaps USCC is not compatible?

It works, plenty of people over on HoFo have it working. I'd run a search over there and see what you come up with.

John, I am an US Cellular user with the 9630 Tour that lives in Eastern NC and I use my google voice number for EVERYTHING!! I NEVER give out my real cell phone number anymore. I even setup my real cell phone number so that if I don't answer when called directly, it re-directs the calls to my Google Voice voicemail system instead of the USC voicemail system. My wife also uses Google Voice all the time with her Bold 9650 and the only problem that either of us have ever had is with the Google Voice app freezing when trying to send a txt message, but otherwise incoming calls come through without any issues.

GV worked just fine on my Tour as well. I used that number for everything and never give my cell number out anymore.

So setting up call forwarding doesn't end up costing you extra on your bill with US Cellular?

Call forwarding was something that has been included in my plan for quite a while. It wasn't something I added in, it was already part of their standard plans (like free incoming).

I have set call forwarding to GV#. If I call my USCC number, it goes to USCC voice mail. If I call my GV#, it goes to GV voice mail. I used the *74(GV number) and it seems like it is setting up the forward. But yet calls aren't going there. I have seen statements such as it takes over 6 rings, or over 25 seconds to get forwarded? Is this an issue with USCC? Anyone know how many rings or time passes before the forward to GV? thanks.

Default Got GV to work

OK, I finally got Google Voice to work. Calls to my USCC number now go to GV voice mail, and get transcribed and texted to me, if I don't hit the Ignore button. I am in NC, and Google Voice said my conditional forwarding code is
*74+GV number. But that doesn't work. I got it to work with *72. I tried *76 which was complete forwarding, my phone never rang at all. SO, for USCC users in NC, or at least Eastern NC, it appears the correct code is *72, hope that helps others.

John, I am glad that you got this working for you. My wife just told me that her Google Voice number sounds like it is doing the same thing as yours. Someone calls her google voice number, but her cell phone never rings and the call is dropped into her USC voicemail instead of her google voice box, EVEN THOUGH the call is not being made directly to her cell phone, but to her google voice number? I told her that I can fix it for good and just have ALL of her voicemails go to Google Voice, but she doesn't really like that idea (yet) so hopefully I can talk her into that before Google actually finds and fixes the issue.

I am going to try to start a thread on google help forums to see if they can provide any advice, but if it is anything like the help we have all received with the issues with the Google Voice app for BlackBerry, it will likely never be resolved.

If anyone else comes up with any suggestions to check either in her Google Voice account, or on her USC 9650, PLEASE let me know so I can get this fixed for her.

Thanks in advance all.
