Default desire reception

Is there any reason I would get poor reception with my desire? I havent dropped a call or anything yet but just noticed that for example in my house I only have 1 bar maybe 2. Just upgraded from my curve 8330 and rarely had anything but 4 bars with it. Like i said no problems yet just didnt know if blackberrys maybe just had generally better reception?

Call *228 and do a prl update. (Roaming list). I found this helped my tour in a lot of areas the last time I updated!

This is good news! With my 8330, I'm always limited to 2 bars at home. Hopefully--if I get the Desire--the experience will be opposite for me

Bars don't mean a thing. They are merely a visual representation the phone is getting. ****, the Desire's display only has four bars total.

Yeah I read that 1 or 2 bars on the desire is really more like 3 or 4. I don't have a source for that though unfortunately.

If you go under Settings > About Phone > Network it'll show your signal strength in dBm.

On a BlackBerry you can find it under Options > Status

Hey BigE, how do your signals compare from the droid and bb?

My old 8830 got better reception than the Desire. I haven't dropped any calls but there are a couple places where I used to get data that I no longer do and there is one dead zone on my daily commute that is now slightly bigger than it was with my 8830.

I'm being extremely picky though, the place where I used to get reception with my 8830 where I no longer do was deep inside a building that was partly designed to block signals.

My VZW Tour is crap anyway so the Desire is still better or at the very least on par with it.

It is, by no means, a deal breaker. BBs get outstanding reception; they're typically second only to Moto.

Thanks, I'm thinking about a droid phone when my upgrade comes but that isn't for months yet. Nothing against bb but I really want a larger screen, the problem with that is most are touch and the few touch I've played with I'm not a fan of, always getting something I didn't want.
