Default Cell phone upgrade policy/terms?

I am currently able to upgrade my phone but cannot right now because I have been out of work due to an injury and do not want to spend the money on the phone I want.

Does USCC require you to upgrade right away when your contract is renewed or can you wait awhile?

I need to probably wait anyways because I have read this summer USCC will be getting some android phones. Which is nice to hear since USCC fails is comparison with other carriers when it comes to cell phone choices.

After your contract runs out you'll keep your current plan and features, etc, you'll just be going month to month.
