Default Carrier IQ

USCC has stated that they do not use Carrier IQ.

I'm wondering if you believe them. Has anybody looked for it on their phone anyway?

From what I understand it's easier to find on Android (once you know where to look) because it's a stand-alone app that's hidden. On a BB it has to be hidden inside another app to remain undetected and to gain permissions from the user. Something like navigator or mycontacts backup perhaps.

Personally, I believe them. They have aslways seemed like a straight-shooting company and I don't think they would invade our privacy like AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile could be doing.

Share your thoughts.

I agree with your thoughts...until US Cell gives me reason to believe otherwise, I'm going to take them at their word. I think if they did use it, they'd be setting themselves up for major lawsuits, since they made public statements that they do not.

Now do they use something similar, just by another name? Guess we'll never know, unless someone does some digging.

EDIT:
Something I just thought of...I wonder if USCC's extensive testing of their phones before release is why they don't see a need to use CIQ? If they already know how the phones and network handle each other and what battery life is going to be like, then they wouldn't need to monitor that behind their customer's backs.
