Default BuzzOff - block unwanted callers and do not allow to leave voicemail

March 7th, 2010 - Version 2.0 released

YouTube Video YouTube - BuzzOff v 2.0 Call Blocker for Blackberry

Note: Permission must be set to ALLOW in the Options->Advanced->Applications app for BuzzOff.

BuzzOff will block any phone number, block callers with private or unknown callerid, do not allow caller to leave a voice mail.

BuzzOff is the only callerID blocking application for the BlackBerry that has Pickup and Hangup feature. This will not allow the caller to leave you a voice mail.

You can also select the phone number to block from the CallLog, Messages and AddressBook application. Just select Block Caller from the menu and select the type of block you want.

Features

* Block any phone number
* Block unknown or private callers
* With Advanced Blocking enabled your BlackBerry will not make any sounds
* Block wildcard. eg: 1800* will block all calls starting with 1800
* Pickup and Hangup. Do not allow caller to leave you a voice mail
* Quick block marketing callers: eg: 1800, 1866, 1877 and 1888 callers
* Match last digits in the number. This feature is useful for International users where you can tell BuzzOff to match on the last 3-10 digits in the phone number
* Adjust the blocking and hangup delay time for better results
* Integrate with CallLog, Messages and AddressBook apps. Block caller directly in these apps (Due to a bug on some of the BBOS you can not block from the CallLog, the work around is to use the Messages app or log all calls in BuzzOff and block from there)
* Enable Do Not Disturb for specific period from 30mins to 8 hours. Only caller with type ALLOW will be able to call you when DND is enabled
* Save all incoming calls to the logfile.
* Export and Import filters for backup or when you upgrade OS
* Easy to use

are you guys running custom themes? not sure if that is the problem but just a try.

the way the matching works is if the caller name has the prefix 1 then you need to add 1 to the filter.

what you can try is goto the Prefs in buzzOff and set to match the last 10 digits. so if the calling number is 1-800-123-4567 and you have entered 800-123-4567 then the buzz will just compare the last 10 digits which is 8001234567

i have no idea. lol made by the same company i thought so it should right? right now i have all permissions set to ALLOW. have numbers put in filters with match last 10. and put full numbers in as my storm doesnt show the "1" when a call comes in. we will see how it goes. i have factory Storm theme, and before i have the match to disabled. dont know if that means anything or not.

Thumbs down Warning!!

I installed the BUZZOFF trial downloaded from the Crackberry App Store and here are the issues:

1. The TRIAL will only BLOCK 3 ENTRIES:
If you use your address book, call lists, etc. to add numbers to the blocked numbers list it lets you add and add and add, but only when you go into the App and try to add a number to block directly does it tell you that the TRIAL can ONLY BLOCK 3 NUMBERS!!

2. I had to Delete and Reset the phone twice to delete the app (8900 OS 4.6.1.231)

3. When the App was finally deleted, it also DELETED ALL CUSTOM PROFILES and RESET ALL CUSTOM PROFILES to default settings (I had set each profile to my liking). There was another comment about this earlier as well... it seems he was right! Now I have to go and set up all the profiles all over again!

THIS IS DECEPTIVE. If an App has limited features in Trial Mode, it should be CLEARLY STATED in the description so that the user is informed!!

What it does say is that it will block 25 calls in Trial Mode, but not that you can only use 3 entries in the Blacklist!!!

It vibrates when the vibrate option isn't checked. It causes a red LED to constantly blink. The worst part is it doesn't do what it advertises. It doesn't block calls.

I've reset my phone, disabled compatibility mode, typed the numbers in different ways, set to last 7 digits, set permissions to allow. I have Storm 9530 with 151 OS. Can you please advise?

Well it does block and/or pick up and hang up on numbers with no caller ID. That function seems to work but I still can't block my gf's cell number. Please advise.

My test of the trial version did exactly what was said above. Took 2 tries to delete and reset all profiles. Plus the reason I deleted it was because it didn't work.

This is surprising as I run profiler, loc profiler, and the sms counter all from Toysoft and they work great!

I think this app needs more testing before the author charges for it. Maybe a open beta perhaps?

Default new beta 1.0.2

here is the latest beta

ota www.toysoft.ca/beta/BuzzOff.jad

1 reset permissions to all ALLOW in the Options app after install

2 fixed the problem when you have block 1800 numbers checked in the prefs

3 added send debug msg. If you are having problem try blocking a call and then run BuzzOff and then select 'send debug msg' from the menu. this will email the current debug report to us

I just tried out the new beta and have found it to be much more stable and it actually works! (Mostly) But...

The "debug" feature is a great addition for troubleshooting why BuzzOff works with some numbers but not others. I've been testing with two different numbers where one works and the other doesn't.

Here are the results:

1. On the number that works the debug log shows incoming call number matches that block number. I.E. Incoming call: 832369xxxx matches Block number: 832369xxxx so BuzzOff does what it's supposed to do.

2. On the number that doesn't work the debug log shows that the incoming call number DOES NOT match the block number. I.E. Incoming call: 81534xxxx doesn't match Block number: 281534xxxx. Notice that the incoming call number is only 9 digits instead of 10. It looks like this is some sort of internal telco mapping that is mapped against the reported caller ID. It appears that the number reported in the caller ID is not the actual physical telco number. I suspect this behavior will also be demonstrated with cell phones where the MSID does not match the public number as shown in the caller ID.

My suggestion is that BuzzOff should look for the incoming call number and use that as the filter number when adding filters from the call log. As far as creating manual filters I don't have any ideas.

I hope this helps everyone that is trying BuzzOff. As stated above the new beta looks good and the debug info should help iron out filtering issues.
