Go to Profile>Advanced>Scroll to whichever Profile is Active>Menu>Edit>Messages[youremail@email.com]
Then, once you're in your messages function, you can change the volume, tone, and notification sound. If you want it to not do anything, set it to None. And I would put the volume to Mute just to be safe. You can do this to as many email addresses that you have set up on your BB.
After that, it shouldn't do anything but show the little red star on the Message icon and the LED Flashing Red...(if u set it that way) =)In just about 3 words, I can sum up everything that I've learned about life: IT GOES ON. -Robert Frost

Help: I was aware of setting the different profiles. However I have a new problem that just happened. Once I highlight edit, it does not let me enter into any catigory (not phon, SMT, or any emails). Can anyone assist me on what the problem may be?
Thanks - 03-08-2009, 11:41 PM #211
Well, I recently upgraded my Pearl 8100 software, and it changed my text and email notification sounds. They were too similar, so I wanted to change them but couldn't see how to do it. Thought I'd search the Crackbery posts, and .....there it was! 2 years later and this post is still helping us Crackberry addicts! Thanks! Now, if I can just find that $50 BB Bold, I'll be REALLY Happy!! (best so far is $150 after/$100MIR).

Thanks
Thank you for the info on changing profile.. My question is after changing the profile to a custom tone, when getting a sms message how to stop the tone once you have view the message. It keeps playing until it palys the whole ringer/tone. Using a 8703e blackberry.

I don't own a storm - I had one for 1 day (returned and went back to curve). However, I remember one feature that was ultra cool. When adding a contact there was an option right thru the address book to select a ringtone for that contact for calls and a different ringtone for SMS or email - NOT thru profiles and exceptions but thru the address book while on that particular contact.
Someone with a storm ck this out and post a step-by-step.

hi, i recently got my first blackberry and was wondering how to get an mp3 ringtone onto my phone? i managed to set up bluetooth to transfer the file, but it shows up in my music and not in the "ringtones" area.. also, setting this mp3 as my sms notification sound, doesn't work. The file is on the media card, is this the problem?
thanks! - 04-03-2009, 04:20 PM #220

I personally think RIM need to move 'advanced' to the top of the profile hierarchy...
I think a lot of us wouldn't miss it then...Twitter: iamgeekish
