Hey Navi,

Your post is very thorough and helpful. The steps you describe work perfectly for all my Exceptions, except one all of a sudden! I updated from 4.3 to 4.5.0.77 a few days ago, and ever since, calls from my brother have no ringtone. The settings of his exception are identical to the others, except for the custom ringtone obviously, but when he calls the phone *does not ring at all!* Would the new OS mess with this?

I tried deleting the exception, and re-creating from scratch. I have tried a battery pull. I have tried messing with random options in the "Create Exception" screen. Still, if I happen to not be staring at my phone when he calls, I miss that call.

.... Help!

UPDATE: RESOLVED. I had to delete my brother from my address book and then re-add him using "Add New Address." I put everything back exactly the way it was before and it just worked. [shrug] Wtf.

Question.

How do I get it to ring and vibrate at the same time, instead of the vibrate and then ring? I saw it posted before but that was before I got my phone.

Thank you.

It would be great if you could configure stuff like Bluetooth to switch on automatically for certain profiles, and Wi-Fi for others. Nokia/SE/WinMo have had this for ages now

Your blackberry will not do this by default. There is now a simple download which enables you to set your phone to vibrate AND ring as opposed to vibrate THEN ring:

VibAndRing - Personal Productivity BlackBerry Software - Crackberry Store

I got the same problem and when i got a profile which is set to tone+vibrate, it only rings 3 times and often don't have time to answer it. Isn't there a free solution or maybe a solution that first rings and then vibrates?? (I've got the bold)

I've also noticed in profiles editing that there you can set different ringtone and volume when in holster.. How does the device recognise that u got it in the holster???

Default Problem with Bold Setting profile

I got the Bold yesterday and i noticed that when i change the profile for different email accounts they all change. For example if I set my bb email to tone and hot mail to vibrate, when i look back at my bb email setting it is changed to vibrate. If i change the bb setting again and then check hotmail it is changed and they mirror. anyone else having this problem or have an idea how to fic this?
TIA

Is there a way to mute the alert for bb messenger when it is active? when i chat with my buddy on it, it keeps beeping when he sends 3 messages in a row. i only want to be alerted when the chat screen is not active.. is there a way to do this?

also, what is the difference between "messenger alert" and "new message alert" ?

messenger alert - for a new conversation...

new messenger alert - for additional messages to the same conversation...

If you want to not get notifications for someone replying to a conversation, edit the new messenger alert field.

You're not changing the sub-menu's of the profile correctly.

Go to profiles / scroll down to advanced. Choose the profile you want to edit, for example Normal - within normal, edit the respective email accounts...
