Odd are pretty good, the local storefront does not stock parts. There are lots of BlackBerry specialty shops that do sell parts.

pdarepairworld.com - BlackBerry Repair Parts for BlackBerry 8800 & 8830

8800 series keyboards, $29.95 plus shipping. You will also need the correct screw driver, available for $8.99.

Or, for $60:

Quote:
"f you have lost some keys from your keypad from your BlackBerry 8800, 8820 or 8830, let the pro's at BBRS replace your keypad and get you typing again in no time. Keyboard will be replaced with the model pictured which has black keys. 24 hour turn around."
#2, From your discription of symptoms, I would expect the USB data connection will work.

After you install the software, your PIN number will show up. If it does, you are home free. If it doesn't show up, we can still troubleshoot with a fair chance of success.

That error message means you have one of the two software packages installed, BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

Download and install the correct OS software for your device.

Ok I am trying to revive my curve from the dead and having a problem. I am using the "How do I recover a dead blackberry". I can get it to connect and start the recovery process, but once it goes to reconnect to the JVM after the first loading process it will not and I get a error message saying "Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation". I am using a fresh install of the software I got from t-mobiles web site "*.81".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

alright so i might have a dead blackberry but thought i would try here to see if i could revive it..no luck.

The 8330m is in a constant cycle...red led, flash of screen, then red light again...i don't get the hourglass or anything. I know the screen isnt broken b/c the "battery w/ a slash through" shows up.

I have tried to reload the OS through every method and the computer just can't pick up the device's signal after a reboot since it never fully reboots.

when i do the method in post #1 i get this message "The blackberry desktop software does not have blackberry device software for your device..." I am 100% positive i downloaded the correct device software since i have d/l'd it twice directly from rim.

any help?

I hope we can resolve this and recover your BlackBerry.

That gives me hope, there is a simple reason you are seeing that message, the security file that prevents you from "accidentally" writing some other carriers software, is present.

The first place to check is Windows / Control Panel / Programs. You should have both BlackBerry Desktop Software and BlackBerry Device OS software installed. Double check to make sure the device software is the correct version for your BlackBerry.

If it is the 8330M version, you can proceed. If not, download and install the correct version.

The next step is to locate and erase any occures of VENDOR.XML.

Windows / Computer. Select Drive C:

Navigate too: C:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader. Scroll to the bottom and delete Vendor.xml.

Try your upgrade again, if it still fails with the same message, and you have BlackBerry Desktop Software v4.7 installed, there may be additional copies of Vendor.xml on your computer.

Use Advanced Search, including system and hidden directories, to find and delete them.

Good luck.

We are all to familuar with that error message. I wish there was simple fix, but the only advise I can give you is keep on trying.

Members have noted that is will often work after a number of tries.

Ok, i have been at this for HOURS. I was trying to update from .180-.278 on my 8220, when i recieved the error for corrupted OS. So, i wiped my berry and its sitting at Error 507.

However, any time i try to load my old OS (.180) it gets a fatal error and kicks me out. The error message is unspecified error [J:0x00000005].

Furthermore, now, neither the loader nor the desktop software will recognize my berry. I've tried reinstalling the software with a cold booted computer, tried just about everything i can think of. If theres anything im missing, it would be appreciated to know

I would suggest, repeat the download of the .278 package. If that does not correct the problem, download and install an earlier release.

I have the same problem like you for my 8220;
I tried all version of the DM; from 4.3 until the last one
Finally I can manage and covered with 460_b027_multilanguage_nomediamanager with OS 8220M_PBr4.6.0_rel309_PL4.1.0.58_A4.6.0.174_Rogers

This take several time for me to recover the whole system to load, now everything is back to normal again and I am trying to load with the latest OS right now

Thanks to Reed McLay for having this Thread, its help a lot
