great diy....unfortunately a little too late for me.
i pulled the ribbon cable from the motherboard without releasing the tab. Anyway to fix this. i've Frankensteined my 8700 with parts from an 8700c to keep it alive. It has been through a lot, the latest tragedy was a toilet drop but with quick karate kid reflexes I fished it out and dried it. Two days later it resurrected but two months later it now just flashes on and off. I would like to use the motherboard from my 8700c but again I broke the release tab so if anyone can assist, I would greatly appreciate it. - 09-09-2009, 09:25 PM #43

Thanks so much - just made my silver 8330 black. Parts from "dealishops.com". Instructions from you.
I bought the front plate, bottom cover and back door. Did not have to mess with the ribbon cable as I did not get the complete housing.
Could not have done it without you!Marsha

Thanks for the guide. Was finally able to get all that annoying lint out from under the glass. You've saved me from another 8 months of irritation.
FYI: if you're planning on doing this you'll want the proper tools, or you may inadvertantly break one of the tabs holding your face on. Doesn't seem to affect much in my case but its possible nonetheless.
