Default Weather App built into theme with Svg.

As most of you are aware, a weather demo composer file has been in the theme builder for quite a few years, its been there as long as I can remember since the days of Plazmic. I was reading the svg and noticed that it says "a sample showing how a weather application could be built using svg and composer. A server feed could be substituted in the svg to get the different weather types, the temperatures, etc. "

First off, obviously no one has created a theme with weather built in the theme, well, not to my knowledge anyways.
Secondly, it is possible because why else would it be there. There are so many things that composer can do that theme developers just don't put into themes.

So I guess my question is this, how many theme developers would like to venture into getting the svg to pull weather into their themes? Of course most BB users already have a weather app already installed, but having the weather completely customized to the theme already built in would be awesome.

Thoughts?

I agree, as I'm sure most other theme devs will, that a tighter integration between the themes and the apps will definitely only make things better. Those weather animations in the demo are simple yet effective and would definitely brighten up the homescreen experience.

The biggest barrier is getting the information from the applications to our svg code. For example, within the most basic themes svg x-object's and custom() triggers are used to control events and provide content from the BBOS to the theme, we would need to be able to achieve the same from third party applications. As far as I know, there is no documentation reference achieving this kind of integration, if indeed it is possible that is.

Would be nice though!

Russ.

You wouldn't need 3rd party apps, the info comes from a weather feed from the internet.

If I'm not mistaken this feed needs to be placed in svg. Where? I have no idea, but I'm gonna try.
