one: Did you resize this icon? Pushed content will not automatically refresh if the icon has been resized.

two: sorry, I don't understand the question.

What are you using for the NAME of WB, the one that the OS calls it that must be filled out in the Composer ? Doctor Neutron

So, Very Bold Karen, you seem to be among the few shooting straight about WB. I can get him into my Banner or Custom Homescreen and I can see his inscrutable little picture icon. I am trying your suggestion about not messing with the Device App Order icon size if you wanna see this picture ever update. Do you know of anybody getting the actual alpha-numeric data onto the Banner or the custom home screen - i.e. just like it appears on the app screen ?

Don't get me RONG, the WB folks are really doing a marvelous job, BUT: is this app ready for Storm ? It seems more like Opera - works, but when you cut them both open, they do not bleed true black - they just don't match up with all the RIM rubrics.

It's a third party application for getting weather updates to a BB. The icon it comes with has issues in most Plazmic generated themes.

So, summarizing this AM as regard WB in Banner or Custom Homescreen:

(1) zero alpha-numerics (like on app screen icon)

(2) when I go to the apps page and back, my Banner WB icon
updates; then a quick landscape-portrait flip of the wrist and
its back to some old weather icon (moon and stars at 9:30 AM).

(3) a Quickpull resets scenarios (2) for more anticipated fun and games.

CONCLUSION: WB is NOT ready for Storm prime-time. RIM guys, what we
want and need in Banner: date/time/temperature ( at any of 40M locations
world wide.)

I get the temp displaying on mine on both the homepage (bottom row icon) and also on the app page. Icon shows up as the bug on both but I can see my overlay on it causing it to be somewhat grayed in appearance. Severe weather alert shows up as red text (temp). Still not perfect however. I did not make it in Composer either, it's TB generated.

Cool

I wish to thank Karen, The Very Bold, for her comment regarding resizing and pushed content: this got me over the top with my own personal Theme Zen Tesla. First of all, it is NOT strictly true that WB = POS. However, I won't have it on my Custom Homescreen until he clears his act up. I went and got BBWeather, which is WONDERFUL and much better behaved. However, without Karen's comment, I would not have gotten him working either. You can mess around with size, etc, until you are blue in the face, but the easiest thing to do is just take the default Normal and Focus Icons for Device Application Order.

In my attachment, you may see BB Weather reporting the temperature at 95 degrees F right in my Banner. It updates automatically and if I click it, I get the full enchilada weather report. Duh, just the way I want it. Don't particularly like the full icon and its background, but we can lobby for better.

In this shot, notice RADAR is in focus - this is just the color compliment of my app screen focus buttons. This is one click access to the Accuweather active radar display.

This environment is 148. RADAR, Y! MAIL, Y! SPAM, and NASA are Jonathan Fisher Storm launchers. AP News, Reuters, and WSJ are the professionally prepared news service feeds and by now they are totally awesome.

If I click above RADAR, I would get the Verizon Navigator. This is a workaround until I can get Verizon to cough up the proper software module name to put into the Composer Third Pary App Launch box.

The button on the right in the Banner gets me to my personal folder The CON(NING TOWER), where I keep important, but ugly apps that do still have dorky looking icons.

You may note all the different THIRD PARTY Apps and RIM/House apps all combined on one screen with a fairly consistent and common look and feel.

Hot dog, I got all my objectives done: (1) no dorky icons that look like refugees from Windows or the iPHONE camps and (2) routine operation from this one screen.

Again, thanks to Karen The Very Bold for the awesome tip !

Doctor Neutron,

If you want to head into your lab and do some testing... I thought I'd share some feedback I received from someone using one of my themes.

Many of us have experienced this problem: In addition to 3rd party pushed content (such as weather) not updating on re-sized icons, the new message indicator does not update, either.

On the Bold, the "default" Home Screen grid layout (options>advanced>accessibility) is 6x3. My user reported that the new messages icon updates when placed in a resized (60x60) slot since he changed the accessibility setting on his device to 4x4.

I have confirmed this finding. (In my case, it cuts off the right edge of my icon, though that may be because of the icon set I used.)

I also checked to see if my weather icon would also update under these circumstances. IT DID. Weather icon placed in resized 60x60 slot updated on my Home Screen with accessibility set at 4x4.

I imagine the Storm also has Accessibility settings... fiddling with them may yield similar results.

hi there, im trying out a WB one that i made, and i think iv found the easiest route, just leave it all alone in composer, and in Plazmic place a `device app order` icon where you want it to sit, make sure the text is turned on, then figure out which icon slot its sitting in, so that WB can be put there in the main app screen, also set the background to clear, focus to whatever floats ya boat, and take of the `flash` option

because its a normal zen icon the text always shows no matter which weather app you use, as its merely like the icon in the app screen

hope that makes sense, i know its the basic way, but it just works

Thanks for this. Really does seem to be the only stable way to do it. I hate using Theme Builder to do it instead of Composer since I can make sure everything is perfectly aligned in Composer, but it works this way so I'll use it I appreciate your post!
