Default Theme compatibility question...

I've now got several free and several premium themes out floating around there in cyber world and as such I have received a number of requests for existing themes for other devices and/or OS's.

I currently use theme builder 5 to develop 8500 series themes but can only test them on my Curve 8530 OS 5. So I'm wondering...

Exactly what devices and OS's will support my themes (as is) without my having to make any adjustments to them?

Please only respond if you know for a fact and do NOT give me your best guess

Thanks in advance to those who reply!!

if you have made 8520 os5 themes then

8530
8520
9330
9300

os5 are the only devices it will work on

theme compatibility is based on os version and screen size

so if want to make them for other devices you have to start again and make for the 9700 etc

Now I'm even more confused...

If compatibility is based on OS and screen size, there are actually about 15 devices that have the same screen size (320x240).

Also, Theme Builder 5 is said to work with OS 4.2 or later.

So using Theme Builder 5 to design a 8500 series theme will make it compatible with all devices that have a screen size of 320x240 and OS 4.2 to 5.0 correct?

Also, is it true or not that an OS 5 theme will in fact work with a device that has OS 4.6 just not and OS higher than 5 (ie; OS 6)?

Lastly, if I change over to using Theme Builder 6, will that make all the themes I make with a screen size of 320x240 compatible with all OS's?

I just REALLY need to know this and have been trying to find out all week so as to avoid selling a theme to someone who can't use it.

In fact, this morning I received an email from someone who purchased one of my themes on MobiHand because it said it was compatible with her device (9330 OS 6) and it would be, if Theme Builder 5 supported OS 6 (to my understanding).

**** theme builder 5 can only export for os5, 4,7, 4,6, 4.5 depending on device model - it will show you the ONLY os it can be exported for at the point of export ******

****** NOPE !!! you make it for 8500 it will only work for the devices i stated before*****

Also, is it true or not that an OS 5 theme will in fact work with a device that has OS 4.6 just not and OS higher than 5 (ie; OS 6)?

you clearly need to learn what devices have what os and go from there!

it is pretty simple!

the themes you have made for 85xx os5 WILL ONLY work on the devices stated before

if you want to make the same theme for other devices then you need to build it again for specific devices

so build it for 9700 os 5 it will also work on 9650 and 9630 os 5 as they have the same screen size and are the same os, but it wont work on os6 as it is a different os , you need to make it all over again as a os6 theme!

85xx themes do not work on 8300 devices as they are os4.5 and have different icon sizes, and banner layout etc!

my advice would be learn what devices have what os
only make themes you can test
make sure your compatibility is correct when put on sale

I was trying to learn about devices and their respective OS's which is why I asked, however, it is difficult as a newbie when everyone treats me as if this is knowledge I should already have.

I do not mean to sound rude here, despite the fact that you (imho) came off as being rude while insulting my intelligence at the same time, BUT I am trying to learn because MobiHand sold my theme to someone with a device and OS it was not compatible with, not me.

I understand having newbies ask questions all the time may get annoying to some, BUT it is the only way we can learn.
