Theme Builder Homescreen Background

I was wondering, when you go to change the homescreen background to an animated gif, is there any need to change the "default background" as well? I have the animated gif to loop forever when the homescreen is shown, but are there any instances where the animated gif would not show and the "default background would show through? At first I was loading the animated gif I made in both spots, but the file is relatively large especially if the default background never shows through when an animated gif is applied. I tried resetting the default background to the default and loaded it up on the simulator and I didnt ever see the default show up, but Im not sure if I missed it somewhere.
