RIM and OS 6.1 icon use

I've noted from the forums that Raypho has been asked by RIM to remove the 6.1 icons from his SSIX theme. Does anyone have any further information reference this? As a theme developer who is just about to release a premium theme with 6.1 icons I'm naturally concerned.

A lot of use has been made of the OS 6.0 icons, but then they have been released by RIM within the 6.0 theme builder (albeit a beta release) and I suppose can thus be considered as a resource that is available for such use. Perhaps RIM will be restricting 6.1 icon use until the 6.1 theme builder kit is released?

Anyone have any further info?

I havent been asked yet... that would SUCK since my SFXTC theme file for the torch is broken!

this will be even more interesting.... I submitted the SFXTC theme with the new icons to AppWorld. lol

pulled it from mobihand.... sigh.

I've decided to release Reflex with the OS 6.0 icons for now, I can always update it later if things become official.

RIM issued a blanket statement to mobihand asking them to remove all themes using 6.1 icons.

I suppose we will be able to use the 6.1 icons when TB 6.1 is released. That will probably be some time.

Peeps! I've heard on the grapevine this morning that the OS 6.1 icon issue with RIM has been resolved and themers are free to use them now.

If anyone sees something official on this please post!

Nothing has changed at apworld. You can not use 6.1 icons.

Or the name Berry in your theme name evidently ...LOL

yea they dont like use of berry lol, thats why its beweather for example, anyways i ditched my os6.1 icons and made my own from scratch

6.1 icons are technically illegal to use as using them breaches RIMS copyright
until they are released with a theme builder of sdk then they change to a free to use license

they will not get approved into app world at the moment

and even tho BBThemes has made this own, these are also technically in breach of copyright ;p

my advise would be to use at your own risk, however RIM and Mobihand arnt really doing much about the hundreds of new 6.1 themes, so crack on!
