Default plazmic theme builder owned??

A few years ago I installed plazmic theme builder on an old PC. Just tried to get it again on a new PC and found that Blackberry controls what they call Plazmic sometimes, but then call it their own builder other times. I haven't found any original download links for plazmic TB that work...so are they owned now? Everything good it seems is forced to sell out. I don't remember the old dld being so complicated; the new one is uber annoying (must download a 3rd party installer-no thanks, among other extras) what a headache. Please don't reply with instructions on how to download the BB builder- I'm not a dummy and I'm not asking for that kind of help. So were they bought?

yes they were bought by RIM.
but NO you dont need any 3rd party installers (other than installshield which should already be on your pc as all programs use it) so i really dont get your point.

Akamai Netsession Interface akamai.com/client is required for dld

EDIT: Okay I found a BB theme studio link to an old version...and I see now why they require Akamai...my download would have taken 2 hours. Guess I am overly suspicious. Still, it is a sad thing that they were bought by RIM. Thanks for the info.

Yesterday I upgraded from TB5 to TB6, and I received the same message. I just used the link for trouble downloading, started without requesting 3rd party client.

RIM bought Plazmic after the Storm device was released and the name was changed to BlackBerry Theme Studio instead of Plazmic Theme Builder.
