Default Noobcake question about icon modification

So I have a theme I like quite a bit. I'd like to change the icons. I also have those images. The person who did the theme is not around anymore, or at least has no interest in talking to me about it judging from the lack of response i get to my question. No problem there, maybe the guy is too busy to jack with a piddly mod. So what would you theme wizards suggest for a next step? Is this even possible?

You would need the .thm file from the creator to modify the icons on the theme.

hmm..well, I'll see if he would give them up, but I doubt it. I don't blame him for that, it's his work. No way to extract that from the .jad?

You still need .cod files as .jad file doesn't contain actual data such as images. I thought I saw a program somewhere that can extract images from .cod files but I can't remember where. And even if you extract icons, without the theme file, you will have to reconstruct everything from scratch using those icons so I don't know if it's worth the trouble.

You will need to build the theme from scratch unless you have the source files (thm and svg files).

Wow...thanks guys. Hopefully he works with me, but as i said, dunno if he even does this kinda thing anymore. This seems kinda complicated, but I've become more interested in theme building as of late. And the ugly part of crackberry addiction starts......
