Making Icons?

So I have a question for all the theme builders who make game specific themes (well anyone might be able to answer this actually). I'm trying to make an Eve Online theme.

For those of you who do not know, Eve Online is an MMORP created by CCP based in space. For more information visit EVE Online - Home.

I am wondering how you guys get the icons. Do you go into the game and do a screen capture, are they found somewhere online (I cannot find these) or do you just start from scratch to make it the appropriate size.

Mostly I would cut different pics and symbols and re-size them and paste them over a trans layer , if Im missing a few then I'll create my own but Im no artist so I stick with symbols

I just took alook at eve online and I would concentrate on the funky font that EVE is using if I were you I would make my icons around that font like a M for mail and a B for browser and maybe a custom tab focus like I did in this theme based on the band sublime http://forums.crackberry.com/f126/su...friend-384627/
