How many themes?

This first question is a fun one to see what kind of answers we get. What I mean by fun is that it should be interesting to see what peoples real guesses are.

1) How many themes per week/month do you think are sold on all sites combined including App World?

2) Is it possible to make good money developing themes?

3) Is BlackBerry the main platform for themes, or are themes sold for iOS and Android? I don't see them like I do for the BlackBerry.

Okay...If you want fun answers here goes:
1- 700 billion per month.
2- No. You only get 0.98% of the money that is made from themes.
3- No. Other mobile phone platforms are crap.

If you want real answers...
1- I'd guess 0.5 million/month.
2- Yeah, sure.
3- I don't really know.

Thanks for the reply. I am asking because I am a fairly new developer and am curious if the volume of themes sold makes sense for a new developer to get into the game at this point. What I am looking to understand is that there is "plenty to go around". It does not seem like other platforms sell anywhere close to as many themes.

No problemo, Buddy. Another great reason to start is the feeling you get seeing your theme on someone's phone. Its a really great feeling

.5 million is an under statement. When you belong to MobiHand you also have 8 other site selling your themes... When you belong to BBAppWorld, you have eveeryone around the world with a Blackberry looking/buying your themes...

Yes and no. You can not look at themeing as a full time job. You need to supply a SSN to these companies so you get taxed at the end of the year which sometimes really sucks. However, I know people who are making 3k a month and I am sure there are people making more than that. I, for one, am making enough to purchase a house and not have to pay the monthly mortgage payment - nuff said.

You can theme for Android, however, there is A LOT more coding that goes along with it. It isn't as easy as Blackberry is since RIM released an app to do it. Android is like writing a theme in Composer - annoying.

iOS can also be themed, however, you need to have the phone/pod/pad in your hand to do it. You can not make it and them give a link to someone over the net like you can with BB.
