Hidden Today Underlay from Themebuilder using SVG?

I have discovered that when creating icons in composer either by 'device application order' or specifying the application the hidden today in theme builder does not work. SO I created the icon in theme builder to be used for the hidden today.

Does anyone know how this icon is referenced so I can add some svg code to show a underlay when the focus is on the icon I created in theme builder? Or an alternative method for achieving a hidden today with underlay?

I started my icons I created from composer in slot4 and the icons I am using from theme builder are using slot0-3. Can I reference these slots? Or is there a specific name theme builder gives the buttons so I can reference that way..maybe by application name or the exec function to the application?

Thanks I got it working. I decided to use it differently then Matt explained in the tutorial at bbthemelab.com. I decided to use a today item and hide it in my svg while using a device button to call and then hide it again . I preferred that method rather than showing a underlay with a key press .
