Default Help on creating something similar to this?

Hey guys, I have another Photoshop/GIMP question...how would I go about making something like this:

I want something exactly the same except without the icon in the middle.

Thanks!

EDIT: A Wordpress plugin called Sexy Bookmarks uses something similar. Here's the link: WordPress › SexyBookmarks | email, bookmark, and share buttons « WordPress Plugins

Do you want just a straight line with the outer glow?
Yes, but I just can't seem to replicate it in Photoshop, no matter what I do.

Thanks! I'll try to make my own, and if yours is better, I'll use that. The only problem is that it's not the same opacity, should I lower the opacity of the resulting image once I'm done? Would that work?

Thanks again!

Yeah, thanks for that. I'm not a beginner in Photoshop, but I'm not a master either. Sorta leaning towards beginner though. Thanks!

Sorry, I had to go to sleep, then I had school.

I tried my best, and I got this effect.

I think this is almost exactly what I wanted, all I did was follow your steps, with a size 7 brush, then applied a Gaussian Blur of 1, then an outer glow.

Thanks!

I wish you the best.
Yeah, maybe I should decrease the line's opacity, it looks a little bulky the way it is now.

I checked out the site, and it looks really good, except that it looked a bit too 'shiny' if you know what I mean. Also, I saw the image restorations, and they look great! I didn't know you could do that much with Photoshop!

Thanks for everything!

Yeah, that's what I meant lol.

Here you go, created one very similar.

What it looks like with that icon.

The actual line thing.

fyi... you will also want to split the line in half (top/bottom) so when you have an icon it can be in front of the back line. get it?

I tried it quick (I use corel photopaint X5)

then split it in 2

but really.. if you want icons to pop from behind it.. you will need to make a dock as well so the icons can "hide" behind it... then pop up through the slot

ok.. it looked better against a transparent background! lol but.. you get my point right?
