Default *FREE* Meters and Icons

We put together some of our collections on icons and meters and put them in our downloads section. We are still adding more, just takes a bit of time to get them all up there.

It's only for the Downloads section, and it allows us to see what is downloaded by who so we can make sure to keep newest items in the right places.

Yeah, I would like to do that as well, but it's an SMF mod and doesn't have that capability.

Thanks for the collection. You might want to give credit on the site to the owners/artists whose graphics you're sharing.

Thanks for letting me know where they came from. I got them from a 3rd party so I didn't know at all.

Everything on bbthemelab was coded with WordPress. I dont use any other bull as the PHP is hidden throughout all of the other pages. It gets to be a pain in the ***. The good thing about bbthemelab is that you do not have to go login to your email and complete the registration - taking that one step out saves the end user that frustration. When you sign up - your in and ready to download whatever you want. No one has complained yet, we have almost 4,400 members in less than four months. Good stats if ya ask me.

What is SMF?
*EDIT*
Simple Machine Forums.

Why aren't you using phpbb? It seems it be easier to code from what I have read.

I chose SMF because of it's available mods. It has many more than phpBB and the support is higher quality.

I like the Downloads section with it, keeps a good track of what is most popular, with having to register I can send out a newsletter whenever something new is added. It also keeps bots out.

As far as registering.....once you register with the forum your good to go to DL as much as you would like, just like BBThemeLab. Same thing, you just use WP and I use SMF. I like the e-mail verification that way spam can't get in with a bogus email and cause trouble when 1 simple step avoids it.

New members register and join on a daily basis so the people that want the items that are there are not complaining about it either.

If you can read PHP then you can work with it and change things that need to be changed. That is why people hire me to help build their sites because I know how to work with the items with little effort. I use WP for my main site SMF for the forum and another separate software for my real-time chatroom.

With 500,000 hits in 2 months, I don't foresee a issue with the way I operate my site.

Everything you have with SMF can be done with standard php code. Mods are great with any forums, but it is "proper" to keep everything uniform and the same.

For example, look at blackberryempire.com. The website is wordpress, the forum is phpBB. The forum looks like complete *** - it is not uniform with the rest of the site.

Anyway, this is not about what you should or shouldnt not be using. I think it is impotant to show what people are registering for prior to them registering. Good customer service.

SMF is standard PHP code.....PHP is a standard in itself. You don't have to register to see what is in the downloads section, with a bit of investigating you would have known that. You can go to the meters board and see what is there. At that point, you can decide if you want to download. If you do you take 3 mins and register.

I am not interested in how others maintain, operate or build their websites. I know how I want mine to operate and I do it that way. Now if you know PHP and you can develop a mod that will do what you think I should do, I will contact SMF and get it expedited through the mod approval systems, many others want a mod like that. In the meantime, I take what I can get and I use it. It may not be exactly what I want, but it is what I want it to to give or take a feature or too.

I haven't been on Blackberry Empires website. Even if I had been on it, I am sure there is a reason for the uniformity or lack there of. I don't own their site or run it and would certainly never say that another site looks like *** on a public forum. It's just not professional.

I have no interest in smf.

And I think your taking what I'm saying way too personal.

Professional or not, the owner of that site knows how I feel, I've told him when he asked me for help. Maybe that's why I didn't get the job. Sometimes, I guess, being honest isn't the best policy.

All in all, again, I am not trying to argue over which site is better or which is nicer looking - someone already said fail and it wasn't me.

If you need help with your coding let me know.

Good job on the site thus far. It has come a long way.

Thank you for the kind words, yours has come far in 4 months as well. 4,400 members is most certainly something to be proud of.

I will definitely let you know if I need a hand with something.
