Building 2 Zen Layers for 9700 theme

I've been building themes on Theme Builder v5.0 and have recently tried to build 2-layers of Zen icons on the home screen for my 9700 (much like they are rendered on the Storm).

I have managed to work through the layouts and properties, but am having a problem with getting the navigation worked out. The Auto Create only works on horizontal OR vertical, as a result you can't move from icon to icon at all.

Has anyone managed to work through this? Any advice is welcome.

With a non-touch device, you can only go left, right, up and down. So you need work your navigation like being on a grid. For instance, if you have a 2 rows, 6 icons each, you would have 12 icons total, correct? Let's say you are on icon 2, you could go left to icon 1, right to icon 3, and down to icon 8.
