Default Animated gifs on homescreen

Im having a wierd problem with using animated gifs on the homescreen. Ive made an animated gif for a theme before, it was only 12 frames long and looped forever...it worked fine. For a new theme the animated gif I made was 38 frames long but now with this one when I load it into a simulator, the animation gets about half way through and then the screen goes to whatever is set for the default background...it doesnt continue through to the end of the animation. It will then stay at the default background for the length of time it would have taken for the rest of the animated gif, then the gif comes back and starts over only to get half way through again and cut out to the default background again. Both animations were made in the same way, and even though the 2nd was 3X as many frames, the actual file size of the gif was smaller (due to colors/details etc).

Does anyone know if there is a time limit or frame limit set for the animated gifs used on the homescreen? Or has anyone had this happen or know why its happening?

Ok now to test this out I made an animated gif for a torch 9800, 360x480, it was just a white background with black numbers, 40 frames long. Each frame had incremental numbers 1-40 and each lasted 0.1 sec. I made a new 9800 theme, only changed the portrait homescreen to this animated gif, loaded it in the sim, and sure enough, the gif would run through from frames 1 to 32 then cut out to the default background for the remaining 8 frames....then the gif would start over only cut keep cutting out after frame 32 showed. Because this gif was only black and white, its file size was only 44kb. So it appears that regardless of the animated gifs file size, it will cut out after a max of 32 frames.

Still looking for anyone else who has experienced this or can confirm the existence of a max number of frames for TB.

It appears that loading a 32 frame animation into a theme will show all 32 frames, but it will still show a flash of the default background image before looping. A 31 frame animated gif will not show that flash and loop properly. So it looks like its 31 frames or less. I have opened a bug ticket, we will see what they say.
