Want to be a theme developer.
Hi all,
I have a very strong will to create/develop themes for BB and PB.
Where do I start from?
Hint: I m a total newbie in this arena. But I am quite good at converging resources.Last edited by husainpatan; 05-12-2012 at 05:31 AM. Reason: typo :p

Start out by downloading Theme Studio 6 from the Blackberry website. Then , search thru here or google for tutorials on basic theme developing for blackberry.
For OS7 devices, there, a tutorial for editing settings to make this possible as Theme Studio does not do this "out the box". But i would suggest making a few within TS6's limitations first.
As for the PB, not happening anytime soon if ever. Many thanks, downloads and dollars to all the developers out there!!!Thanked by 2:husainpatan (05-13-2012), mobi900 (05-14-2012)

Thanx.
I suppose I need to get my hand good at photoshop first, right? Or else resources are all available easily on internet? - 05-12-2012, 03:02 PM #4
well, to be honest, you dont have to be a photoshop master. Basic knowledge alone helps. You can also use another program similar to PS if you prefer. There in the forums, there are some who have posted icon sets, walls, and so on. Please, if you decide to use said sets, atleast ask the author for permission, especially if you plan to sell the themes. And always give credit to them if used.

Thanx for ur quick reply. Due credits will always be given.
One last question: does I need to have some, if none, knowledge of programing or coding, or is it that theme building is all graphical only?
Also, is theme builder 6 alone enough to get started creating themes for os5 too? - 05-12-2012, 03:21 PM #6
Not for basic, non-animated or sliding dock themes.
for those themes, theres a thread stickied in this forum about advanced custom coding.
For themes for OS 5 and 6, all you need is TS6. FOr OS7 themes, theres a thread here as well for that but you may want to get a little bit experienced for that. Many thanks, downloads and dollars to all the developers out there!!!Thanked by:husainpatan (05-13-2012)
