How to make hidden dock on click of button?
I know how to make a sliding dock, but how can I make a hidden dock that appears on the click of a button? Any tutorials? I can't seem to find any. Thanks in advance.

Apparently it is some big secret on how to make a hidden dock for the storm. I have went through 50 tutorials all saying the same thing with the same code, yet when I put it to both the simulator and the device the docks will hide and not come back. Or I have had them come back as long as you are holding your finger on the dock. This is driving me bonkers.

You have two different buttons correct? One to hide and one to show? Press a button and it hides itself and shows the other button.

Yes fellas, I use 2 different buttons. HOWEVER, if you only want to use one button, you can simply create an invisible button that moves with the dock, I did this on one of the versions of my Pad theme.

I hate paying for things but this membership is worth every penny!!!!
I suggest you buy a subscription to ahazdesigns.com because although crackberry is a greatsite it falls short of most Theme Building help. There are many reasons for this, and all of them are valid.
Some people pay to be taught,so why would they give out for free what they had to pay for.....
Some make a living off of creating themes to sell and a flooded market ='s no profit
Some builders are self taught, and because they spent alot of time figuring it out why would they share?Nobody shared with them.
ahazdesigns.com has GREAT video tutorials to have you creating complicated themes with
your eyes closed.

I so dont agree with that statement. I would willingly share anything I find out. Look at the whole jailbreaking community for the iphone/touch. 1000's of themes - some incredibly complex - for free. Not to mention people sharing the tips and tricks on how to do the fancy stuff.. again for free.
Sure - there are people who dont want to learn, and are willing to pay a few bucks for an awesome theme. great! I would not mind paying for a theme if i had no desire to to do it myself. But I love doing stuff like this... and I want to learn! lol
We need a sticky thread with tips and tricks for TB 5.
and PS... whats a SVG file and where can you learn about them?
Thanks! - 11-22-2009, 07:43 AM #9
I would love to pay that guys overinflated prices if I could afford to. Unfortunately my financial situation doesn't afford me the opportunity to spend money freely. I am not looking to make money for any theme that I write, but I will not turn down donations either. I honestly don't feel that any theme I write will ever be worth 2.99 or .99 as I am doing it as a hobby.
Your right time is money, and the best things in life are never free, however the value of being able to say "yeah, I built that" exceeds the simple dollar or two that you might earn from anything that you do in life as you will always have that.
It would be a little different if someone wrote a new GUI to build themes in and wanted to charge you a licensing fee to use the software, but no one has done anything like that probably because RIM wanted to keep theme building and app development open. (yes I know there are some things that are not open with RIM, but that is how they keep a secure platform and everyone gets access to the same tools, new developer or seasoned Vet.Last edited by gtstang462002; 11-22-2009 at 07:48 AM.
