Help KD: Weatherbug/MeterBerry etc icons not updating
Hey everyone~! KD here

I am having a problem where WeatherBug or Meterberry or any of those kind of apps that have changing icons are not updating or changing info on the homescreen...
When in theme builder, I just add an icon on the Theme the Homescreen area, its a regular Zen icon...i place it where desired and then set it to use device application order...
Then, ya...it just doesnt update at all -.-
Now, my theme does use Landscape mode as well, and it updates in landscape, but it wont update in portrait on the homescreen...it also updates in the app menus just fine...
I have no idea what would be causing this and its quiiitttee frustrating.
Thanks for the help in advance. - 12-02-2009, 08:55 PM #2

I don't know if this is it, but . . . . .
I had a similar problem with a theme that I made, but it was not for the new 5.0 system. I had accidentally changed the size of the icon in composer from the stock size for the phone to a smaller size. Bingo bango, icons wouldn't update, fixed the size, bingo, bango - problem fixed.
Once again, from the description, this may not be the issue, but figured i would throw that out there. - 12-03-2009, 01:34 PM

I have seen this for all the weather apps that are installed in the banner for S1. This is due to the Mickey Mouse way data are transmitted to the icon - very touchy. Going from portrait to landscape and back can cause these apps to reset to their last boot values. Gotta do close and re-start. I "solved" as follows: declared them via DAO in Composer, but with zero opacity. You gotta know where you put their icons, but at least you don't have to look at them with their messed up values.

Only way I found to fix the Weatherbug (I am using Weatherbug Elite) on the Storm2 with 5.0.320 is to go into your homescreen menu and change the rows to 2 save it then go back into and change it to one and save it. It is really annoying, but thats the only way I found it to work! Hopefully there is an official OS upgrade this week for the Storm2 (heard from a Verizon rep about a month ago it was coming this week).
