I found someone cooked a 9900 rom with 9790 theme base file inside, so I modified the 9900 properties file to use 9790 theme base,instead of 9900, and it worked.

Here is a 9670 running with the Torch Theme .... again .... HOLY SMOKES!

To clarify (I had to play around), here is what I did:
- Get theme file from OS of your choice (download->install to PC->find folder->java folder->copy
- Inject file into phone. BBSAK works, install COD, boom - done
- Modify properties file that's in ...\BlackBerry Theme Studio 6.0\resources\theme\(whatever theme your making)
- change theme.base = (...) to be the name of the theme file you are replacing (i.e. "theme.base = BlackBerry6_360x480_t")
- create generic theme in theme builder.
- export generic theme
- enjoy ....

in your case ,i guess you can find two themes named "blackberry6" in the theme option,one original, and one from 9800, and you should be able to run the 9800 one directly.

Yes indeed, you are correct. It also works with other themes. I'll post a screenshot of my 9670 running an old old 9780 theme. I'm going to try to load a 9380 theme file next, to see if it works. It's possible that it doesn't work across different os versions, maybe?
I haven't messed around with my 9930 yet, but I'll try to load the 9780 theme maybe tonight to see as well.

Btw, when injecting theme files, be sure to restart the phone.
I also put the phone's "correct" theme in the alt theme spot in the properties file. (took out the _32_ )

This theme will run without any hack whatsoever on a 9700 though, too.

This would also mean you could make some brand new os7 themes here.... Just include the theme-base cod from whatever os you're referencing into the jad and have it installed with the theme. Request user to restart the device, and you can have things like the different formatting or under icon text on any phone.
The beauty is, you can switch back to the default theme again, too.
Anyway, I feel like I'm talking too much.

I guess one has to be careful, though. It will also change formatting for things like calculator and calendar...

Seems to be that as long as the OS versions match yes. I could not run a 9380 theme on a 9670. But a 9780 or 9800 just fine.

So any theme for a OS7 device will NE able to run on another os7 device? So 9790-> 9860 or 9900->9790 ? Or 9780-9800 etc?

I only tried the default layout, and I got that screenshot. I think the custom layout should be working too , but the cod theme base file I used is 9790 OS7.1 , not OS6.
I don't know if the OS6 theme base file can be recoginized by OS7 devices.

Cannot as per my testing. Neither the other way around. Neither could I get 'compiled' CODs for other phones to work.
