Default Why are prepaid data plans not compatible with BlackBerry devices?

The prepaid data plans on Telus and WIND are apparently unavailable for BlackBerry smartphones. Any idea on why, and when this might be changed?

There are plenty of prepaid service providers including Boost Mobile, Metro PCS, and SIMple who offer Blackberry / BIS data plans.

As to why those companies and most big wireless providers do not, it is probably because the retail price of the handsets is high enough that most prepaid customers can't afford to, and don't purchase smart phones for prepaid use, making the option impractical.

It changes from carrier to carrier - but I know up here in Canada - it's a cost thing.

As for TELUS: On the HSDPA network you can get data add ons and social networking add ons (Facebook, Twitter, MSN, etc). CDMA customers can't get data add ons, but can still get the social networking plans.
