Default Unlocked Verizon 9550 on Telus?

Will it work? From what I've read the answer is no but just want to be sure nothing has changed. If it matters I'd be using my SIM card from my Telus Storm 1.
Thanks,
Joe

I don't see why it wouldn't work, seeing as the 9550 is a CDMA device, correct? And Telus still sells their own version of the 9550, even though they released the new network, as they have yet to phase out their CDMA network.

As for the SIM card from the 9530, it doesn't serve any purpose unless you're overseas, and wouldn't be necessary in order to use a clean, properly unlocked VZW 9550.

It won't work. CDMA devices use ESNs to identify the phone to the network and CDMA carriers do not permit you to take the ESN from one carrier to another. Telus will not activate a Verizon, Bell or other CDMA phone on their network and vice versa.

So in case it isn't perfectly clear, no, you can't bring a Verizon Storm2 9550 or any other Verizon device to Telus.

And as a further FYI, you can't use a SIM card either to connect to the HSPA network as the GSM capable bands on the phone are not fully compatible with the North American bands. It can connect via an EDGE connection, but the HSPA network is not backwards compatible with EDGE (although Rogers and Fido do have EDGE networks, so you could use it on their networks with the slower EDGE connection).

By the way, Carns, before you go recommending things that can actually cost people money and leave them stranded, you should really be 100% certain of the answer. I really hope the OP didn't go out and buy the phone under your "recommendation" because if they did, they now have a completely useless phone unless they change carriers.
