Default Unlocked 9700, fine with rogers, sos with telus

Hey all,

Got a new bold2. It is unlocked. Put my rogers chip in there and everything seems fine. Put my telus chip (from my 8830 work phone) and it goes to sos. Any help /suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Rogers and Bell/Telus use different HPSA Frequencies IIRC

8830 doesn't use a chip. That chip is for international use only.

You need an HSPA sim from Telus and it will work on their HSPA network.
(3G only, no 2G EDGE service).

Nope, same frequencies.

I predict cellunlocknet will respond to you before the day is over, lol.
I think he scans the forums for the word 'unlock'.

You can buy an unlocked one on Ebay or Craigslist, but it might be cheaper to buy a locked one and pay for the unlock code through any of us unlockers here on the forums. Canadian carriers like Bell/Telus/Rogers will not give the codes away.

If you plan on using the 9700 on Telus, make sure you don't by a Wind 9700 because it's not compatible with BEll/Telus/Rogers 3G frequencies.

Less than 24 hours. Close enough.
