Telusmobility Snap is no more
Well found out that Smartphone and Blackberry users on Telus are getting screwed a bit more.
A friend on a non smartphone sent a mms to me. Can't receive them, so
I get the message to visit telusmobility.com/snap to view
Ok, I visit the page on my BB, Cant access the page logon fields as they are unavailable.
So I called Telus BB Support.
They set me up an account and password to view the pic and setup forwarding to my Email account for future pics.
Telus said site is not viewable via BB due to formatting. Little does he know opera and bolt can see it.
Accessed online via Opera and Bolt was able to see a tiny version of pic
asked friend to resend pic to be forwarded properly, Picture resent did not forward.
Called Telus BB support again, they told me that the a total shutdown procedure for Snap has already started and some of the functionallity is likely gone already including the forwarding. The total shut down will conclude in about 2 -3 months.
Ok, so I asked what will be SNAP's replacement....... NOTHING.
So I then asked about adding MMS to the Smartphones.
He told me that due to the Design of the CDMA network and Smartphones Data streams that will never happen.
So basically Telus has said that any non smartphone will never be able to send pics to a bb or Smart phone unless they can attach the pic to an email.
Telus defends this stating that its the way of the future to have a BB or a Smartphone, but while that is the ideal it wont happen for a very long time.
I'm a little ticked about this.

Thats why the NEW 4G is coming out real soon and changes will happen. So hang in there everything will be alright! Our network will be 4G letting you send MMS messages and 16 Bit, now it's 7 Bits. I understand your situation and i do understand that BB's are meant to be or make @ least life easier. CDMA has nothing to do with MMS. PCS phones are CDMA also and they have MMS. So the problem is the messages that go thru a server which is not designed to have MMS for the time being. THAT IS BEING changed!!! So hang in there brother!!!

So yeah they aren't shutting down the snap website. One thing I have noticed sometimes is if you have the messages forwarded to a hotmail account and you have the security set to medium the messages will never make it to your phone. If thats the case then you may have to change the security to low via hotmail settings or setup a telus.blackberry.net email and forward them to that.

can someone help me with Snap? When I get MMS sent to my Tour, I get a link to Snap. I apparently don't have a password for it so I have to get them to send me the string of random letters and numbers each time (no place to change or store the password either!) and the pic comes out in a tiny thumbnail I can barely see. When I tried to set the forwarding email I got an error page. wtf?

S1 and S2 and (S2 refresh i am guessing) are not 4G compatable, as the radio of LTE (4G) is not built into any consumer phone at the moment.
There are rumors however that the S3 will be one of the first phones available with LTE. In the USA however, verizon has stated that even though they will have 30 cities covered by LTE by end of 2010, there will be no phones to support it. I wouldn't expect a roll out of LTE until late 2011 at least in Canada, they first want to make some $$$ on the newly launched HSPA+ network (kind of 3.5G).Provider:Telus
